$4 Billion Settlement Reached With LA County Over LA Camp Abuse Cases
Los Angeles, CA – ACTS LAW, along with co-counsel, reached an agreement with the County
of Los Angeles on a $4 billion settlement for sex abuse claims made by thousands of people
over several decades.
ACTS LAW represents more than 1,800 people (out of nearly 7,000) who were sexually abused
while they were at juvenile facilities and foster homes overseen by the County.
According to the extensive complaints, the abusers included employees, agents and other
employees of the Los Angeles County Deputy Probation Officers.\
ACTS LAW filed the initial lawsuit in December of 2022 on behalf of 300 then-minors impacted
by this heinous behavior. The sex abuse survivors told stories of being raped, harassed,
assaulted, forced to perform sex acts in exchange for meals and snacks, and a series of horrific
behavior.
“Yes, this is an unprecedented settlement that will help our clients and many others get the
support they need to put their lives back together,” said ACTS LAW attorney Boris Treyzon. “But
this horrible pattern of behavior should never have occurred in the first place. These men and
women will carry this trauma their entire lives, and the men who committed this awful abuse all
belong behind bars.”
The case is Jane DR. Roe et al. v. County of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Superior Court, case
No. 24STCV22091.
